Announced on Thursday morning (15th March 2918), 2018’s EP is also set to feature troubadour George Ezra, indie rockers The Kooks, and American rapper Kendrick Lamar across the Stradbally estate’s multitude of stages.
The return of the annual event follows on from 2017’s sell-out, which saw eighties’ icons Duran Duran close preceding’s in an explosion of colours and sounds.
Namechecking many of the acts set for 2018, organisers said; “The moment has come to put away the ‘Protection’ of Winter and tune into a Massive Attack of music, culture, grooves and gastronomic delights at Stradbally Hall in the heart of County Laois this September. That’s right. ‘Sit Down’, ‘Be Humble’ cause this Electric Picnic feast is like no other offering. We know you’ve been ‘Busy Earnin’ so we’ve been busy buildin' a festival line-up that’s gonna ‘Be The One’ they’ll all remember in 2018.”
Kicking off on Thursday 30st August, 5,000 early campers are set to be treated to a special night of comedy in the tranquil wonderland haven of Hazelwood. Featuring an all-female line-up curated by Emily O’Callaghan, the event is part of a mission to bring more gender balance to the festival as part of the ‘Rebalance’ programme launched by Festival Director Melvin Benn in August last year.
