Metallica are to headline 2019's Slane Concert, as part of their Worldwired World Tour. Taking place in the historic grounds of Slane Castle, Co. Meath, the metal giants bring along with them special guests Ghost who will be playing their first ever Irish show. The Slane gig will take place on 8th June 2019.
Black Star Riders are to part with founding member Damon Johnson at the end of 2018. The guitarist, who is leaving the band to concentrate on solo and session work, will be replaced by Christian Martucci from Stone Sour. Additionally, Thunder's Luke Morley will fill in got Johnson on the band's upcoming South American dates.

Irish troubador Hozier. The unannounced appearance saw the Wicklow native casually striding on stage midway through a stirring rendition of The Band’s ‘The Weight’. Electric Picnic 2018 got under way on Friday (31st August 2018), with the cream of contemporary acts proving a massive hit with the capacity crowd. With the emotive Walking On Cars, striking Chvrches and hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar appearing on the main stage, and a host of other acts appearing across the arena, there was something for both young and old in Stradbally.
