It was the battle of the 90’s dance giants on Friday night (4th Sept 2015) as Underworld took on 2 Unlimited with rival sets at Ireland’s Electric Picnic. Kicking off in Stradbally on Friday, attendees were treated to sets by Irish Top 5 selling act The Coronas and international superstar Grace Jones as the event got under way.

However, it was a nostalgia filled evening for some, as two of the 1990s' biggest dance music acts took to opposing stages to belt out some of their biggest hits.

Headlining the Main Stage, electronic pioneers Underworld closed what had been a packed day of music and more. Addressing the elated crowd singer Karl Hyde reminisced about their previous Irish gigs saying: “We’ve had so many great nights here, especially at Electric Picnic”. In a hit-heavy set, the trio ripped through clubland favourites ‘King Of Snake’ and set-closer ‘Born Slippy’, accompanied by a visually stunning show.

Meanwhile, over in the suitably themed ‘90s Power Party’ area, guilty pleasure purveyors 2 Unlimited performed to a jam-packed audience who couldn’t get enough of the pair’s technotronic sound. With tracks such as ‘Let The Beat Control Your Body’ and ‘Get Ready For This’, the Dutch duo proved that there were no limits to their enduring popularity.

Electric Picnic continues today (5th Sept 2015) and Sunday with sets from BRIT and Grammy Award-winner Sam Smith and troubadour George Ezra.

Indie superstars Blur are set to headline the Main Stage this evening while festival faves Florence And The Machine will bring the weekend to a close on Sunday.
