Former shock rockers W.A.S.P. have released a trailer for the forthcoming 25th anniversary edition of their seminal 'The Crimson Idol' album. Originally released back in 1992, the disc marked a distinct departure for the band, with only main man Blackie Lawless surviving from its previous guise. The trailer for the new edition - dubbed the 'Re-Idolized' version, can be viewed below.

The release comes as the band prepare to tour Europe later in the year, performing the album in its entirety. A full list of UK & Irish dates, including stops at Belfast's Limelight and Dublin's Academy, can be viewed below.

A partially autobiographical concept piece, 'The Crimson Idol' tells the the story of Jonathan Aaron Steele, an abused child looking for love. Discovering music years later, he rises to international super stardom. Later followed by a catastrophic fall.

Still considered among the best album of W.A.S.P.'s career, 'The Crimson Idol' was originally intended to be accompanied by a movie. Several hundred hours of film were shot to create approximately fifty minutes of movie footage, and the new edition will feature the footage, released for the first time. Coming to DVD and Blu-ray, the film will accompany the CD (as well as a stand alone vinyl release) later this year.
