Suffolk glam rockers The Darkness thrilled revellers at Belfast’s Limelight on Sunday (15th October, 2017) as part of their current 'Tour De Prance'. Treating concert goers to all the hits plus new tracks from latest album 'Pinewood Smile', the band's set proved a jam-packed theatrical fun house.

Opting to ‘Open Fire’ with a customary flamboyant entrance , The Darkness fronted by the incomparable Justin Hawkins held the full attention of fans at the sold-out venue from the beginning. Surrounded by a swarm of lights and glitter, the band - completed by guitarist Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain, and drummer Rufus Taylor - mixed newer tracks from the just-released ‘Pinewood Smile’ album, with hits from right across their catalogue.

Despite his small frame, Hawkins massive presence dominated the centre stage at the Belfast club. Draped in glittering sequins, the wirey front man flashed peace signs and greeted the Belfast crowd saying; “Thanks very much. We are the mother-fucking Darkness.”

As attendees sang and bounced along, it was clear that the only thing on the agenda was to have a hell of a time.  With the likes of 'Growing On Me' and 'Love Is Only A Feeling' providing the perfect soundtrack,  Hawkins swiftly removed parts of his costume as the night progressed, to be greeted by rapturous whistling and suggestive chants from mesmerised onlookers.

Knowingly taunting the Belfast crowd, the famously unsubtle singer chided onlookers, telling them; “You’re not as loud as Dublin”. He continued; “This is the last of our three-show stint; Limerick was good, Dublin was awesome, and this, well, this time last night, they were going crazy!”

Instantly getting the hint and upping their game during an incendiary ‘Giving Up’, the rapturous audience were rewarded when Hawkins informed them; “You guys are fuckin’ ace!”

With the emphasis firmly on fun, ‘All The Pretty Girls’ and ‘Friday Night' provided the perfect weekend soundtrack, as  ridiculous rockin’ riffs, and charming cheek filled the air.

Signing off with an electric performance of hit single ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’, Justin took a swim through the crowd, before thanking them for giving the group a “great party”.

The Darkness’ ‘Tour De Prance’ continues with a trio of dates in Spain in November. For full details visit the band’s official site.
