Legendary Punk Pioneers The Damned have added a brace of Irish dates to their upcoming 40th anniversary celebrations. The influential London act will play Dolan's in Limerick on 25th August 2016, and Dublin's Academy on 26th August 2016, as part of an extensive European run.
The dates come as part of a larger run that will see the goth icons play a slot at California's Coachella Festival, as well as headlining a night at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall. A full list of dates can be viewed below.
Formed in 1976, the iconic outfit played their first gig supporting The Sex Pistols at London's 100 Club. They were the first of the London punk bands to release a single; 'New Rose', on the independent record Stiff Records imprint.
Fast forward to 2016, and The Damned are still comparable to that first buzz of energy released at some long forgotten sweat box shows of youth. A series of inspired, ambitious albums and storming live performances combining full-on rock energy with a stylish sense of performance have helped the band's legend to live large.
Plans for the band's 40th anniversary tour have seen the five-piece - comprising of original members Dave Vanian (vocals) and Captain Sensible (guitar) along with the long standing Monty Oxymoron (keyboards), Pinch (drums) and Stu West (bass) - working on an extended set list that will cover all important periods of The Damned history.
Tickets for The Damned's Irish dates are on sale now, from ticketmaster.ie and usual outlets.
