Ten Ton Slug and Two Tales of Woe have earned their place at this year's Bloodstock Open Air. Putting in exceptional performances in Dublin venue Fibber Magees on Saturday night (7th May 2016) at the hotly contested Irish heat of the 'Metal 2 The Masses' event, the two acts wowed the crowd with their festival-worthy performances.

After being contested for a great number of weeks, the Metal 2 The Masses Ireland final drew to a conclusion with the announcement that two behemoths will be marching to the sacred fields of Catton Park this August. Following eleven heats that saw thirty-five bands perform, the final could justifiably claim to feature six of the best acts that Ireland has to offer in modern metal.

Two Tales Of Woe took the runners up trophy, and a slot appearing on the coveted Jagermeister stage, with the first time this opportunity has been given to a band at M2TM.

The grand prize, however went to Galway sludgers Ten Ton Slug who will play on the New Blood Stage at the Derbyshire happening. A true underdog story, having lost the audiences vote during the initial heats, they were brought through to the semi-finals as a 'wild card' act,  and subsequently made it through to the finals on a judges vote after another raucous performance.

Both bands will be packing their bags for the jaunt to Bloodstock which takes place over from 11 - 14 August, at Catton Park, Derbyshire.

Other winners on the night included Call To Arms who walked away with an electronic press kit customised by Overdrive, and Aesect who will have a headline show organised for them by local media platform Jetrocker in the coming months.

Now in its twelfth year, Bloodstock Open Air is one of the U.K.'s most popular metal events. Acts set to appear at the 2016 gathering include headliners, Twisted Sister, who will be playing their last ever U.K. show, progressive metal leviathans Mastodon, and angels of death Slayer. Joining them will be special guests Gojira and Anthrax, with the weekend set to feature the likes of Fear Factory, Corrosion of Conformity, Paradise Lost, Diamond Head, Dragonforce and more.

Further Metal 2 The Masses finals are set to take place in the run up to the festival, with heats happening all across the U.K. and Europe. A full list of upcoming M2TM events can be viewed below.

Weekend tickets for Bloodstock Open Air 2016 with camping, plus various VIP packages are available now  priced from £139 (+ booking fee). For more information visit the official Bloodstock site.
