'King of the Space Age Guitar' Steve Vai has announced plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of his landmark 'Passion And Warfare' album. As well as embarking on a world tour where the virtuoso plans to perform key tracks from the release, a special edition expanded reissue of the album is also in the works.

The celebrations begin with a
performance at the World Guitar Festival in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada on May 28, 2016, which will mark the first date of the 'Passion and Warfare' 25th Anniversary Tour.

Following on, Via and band will beging an extensive run in Europe that will include stops in Scotland, England, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and many other countries. The tour will then arrive in the United States in October, with additional concerts in America and elsewhere to be announced at a later date.

The tour is set to feature a unique premium package: the Passion and Warfare EVO Experience. A limited number of EVO Experience tickets will be available for each show, with tickets available shortly form www.Vai.com.

An announcement regarding the release by Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings of the 'Passion and Warfare 25th Anniversary Edition' is set to follow. Details so far include plans for a remastered version of the original recording featuring four bonus tracks, and a new companion bonus album called 'Modern Primitive', that will include previously unreleased material.

Finally, Vai will also be performing select G3 dates with Joe Satriani and The Aristrocrats in Italy and Germany during the month of July.

Speaking exclusively to eonmusic at the Classic Rock Awards in London in November 2015, Joe Satriani - a lifelong friend and former tutor of Vai said; "when we first met each other, I was actually taller than he was, he was just a little kid, and he’s still upset about that [laughs]. But after a couple of lessons, even within the first six or nine months I knew he was going to be great, and we became sort of like comrades"

When pressed if there was still a little competition between the two he commented; "we’re interested to see what the other guy’s coming up with, we’re fascinated by it, truly. We wouldn’t steal it, I don’t think, but it’s great to have friends who you trust that will inspire you and push you. That’s what the G3 shows are all about. You know, it’s pretty frightening when you’re standing next to Steve Vai, and then it’s your turn to play something, but it’s the best kind of push".
