Fancy getting on stage with some of the 1980s' biggest and brightest stars? You might just get your chance, as Rewind South has launched its' own talent search. Turning the spotlight with Rewind’s Got Talent, the lucky winner will join Michael Bolton, The Four Tops, Belinda Carlisle and more, for the event at Henley-on-Thames from Fri 16th - Sun 18th Aug 2019.
For over a decade, Rewind Festival has hosted some of the world’s most iconic talents on the main stage and now organisers are turning the spotlight closer to home with Rewind’s Got Talent. The local star search welcomes all talents to enter a competition where they could win the chance to perform on the main stage at Rewind South on Sunday.
Katt Lingard, Rewind Festival Event Manager said: “We all know it’s our Rewinders who come back year after year that make our festivals what they are. This festival is theirs and we want to give them a chance to enjoy their moment in the limelight. Rewind’s Got Talent is all about sharing the stage with the people we built it for!”
To get involved, applicants should email a short video of their talent to the event team. The organisers will choose eight acts from the pool of entries for each of the Rewind festivals, and the shortlisted competitors will be invited to perform live on Friday 16 August – in front of a panel of esteemed guest judges comedian Andre Vincent, Terry Alderton, and Rayguns Look Real Enough– and a packed out audience at the Forever Stage. The winner will be chosen and announced on Friday night and invited to perform on the Main Stage as part of the line up on Sunday. All entries must be submitted by 11 July.
This year’s Rewind Festival follows on from 2018's event, which saw Mod revivalists From the Jam, Soap legend Jason Donavan, and others take to the Henley stage. Taking place over three weekends in Scotland, Cheshire, and Henley, 2019's line-up features music by Bryan Ferry, Foreigner, Thin Lizzy, Gloria Gaynor, Four Tops, Michael Bolton, Lulu, The Stranglers, Belinda Carlisle, Midge Ure, Bananarama, UB40 (feat. Ali Campbell and Astro), Grandmaster Flash and more. Plus, award-winning comedians including Russell Kane, Phill Jupitus, Joel Dommett, Jimeoin, Tom Allen, and Lost Voice Guy.
Rewind is raising the bar with a knock-out entertainment line-up this summer. The legendary Grandmaster Flash will headline the Forever Stage on Friday night at Rewind South. Before he comes on, prepare for a lung busting sing-along with Magic Nostalgic, where an audience member gets to come on stage and spin a wheel to choose what music everyone will reminisce with. Plus, completely bonkers entertainment by Rayguns Look Real Enough – one of the UK’s most unique double acts, bringing a mix of comedy and music mash up madness. The In-Here Brothers will open Rewind North’s Forever Stage, spinning irresistible floor fillers. Rewind’s Ceilidh is back in Scotland on Friday night by popular demand. Don your kilts, bring your glow sticks and head to the Disco Den to experience legendary folk dance with an 80s makeover. On the Riverside Stage at Rewind South on Friday, arrive to toe-tapping live music by King Brasstards. Also, don’t miss the Rock Choir serving some undeniable hits, and introducing the Manouevres, an OMD tribute band.
There is fun for the whole family to be found everywhere at Rewind. At Ziggy’s, the Kids Area, re-create the magic of the 80s – literally – with hands-on arts and crafts. Festival goers can decorate their own Rewind tote bags, and customise big badges and key rings with iconic 80s designs and slogans. Plus, there will be array of vibrantly coloured tutus, giant bows, boomboxes, gold chains, and plenty of glitter and face paint to complete the look. Kids can also go on a scavenger hunt, solve puzzles and hunt for clues across Rewind’s beautiful festival sites with extra-special rewards for those who complete all of the challenges. Young festival goers can also party the day away at The Youngertones Disco, a lively space designed for them to get into the classic hits, with prizes and inflatable props to complete the scene. There will also be classic 80s Polaroid cameras around to capture treasured Rewind memories forever. Plus giant group games for everyone to get involved in, including crazy golf. If a chill out moment is needed, take advantage of family yoga in the tranquil, leafy surrounds in the Family Camping area.
