Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fall Out Boy are the first acts announced for this year’s Tennent’s Vital festival. Taking place at Belfast’s Boucher Road Playing Fields, the 2016 event will see both bands take to the stage on Thursday 25th August.

Making a welcome return to the city, Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductees Red Hot Chili Peppers will be playing their first Belfast gig since their intimate 2011 MTV Europe Awards show at the Ulster Hall. In what promises to be the show of the summer for fans of alternative and hard rock music, the Grammy award winners will wow crowds with their energetic stage show and hits including; ‘Give It Away’, ‘Under The Bridge’ and ‘By The Way’.

Commenting on securing the band, Tennent’s NI Marketing Director Brian Beattie said: “It’s fantastic to be announcing The Chili Peppers to headline Tennent’s Vital 2016”.

He continued: “They’re undoubtedly one of the biggest bands in the world with a great reputation for their amazing live shows so we’re expecting big things!”

Playing as special guests to the Chili Peppers meanwhile, pop punk heroes Fall Out Boy will be hitting Belfast as part of their American Beauty / American Psycho tour.

“Fall Out Boy is a fabulous addition to the bill” says Beattie, adding; “we’re well into negotiations to secure still more big names to make this an amazing Summer of music in Belfast”.

Earning a unique place in the Irish gigging calendar, Tennent’s Vital has been taking place in Belfast since 2003. Hosting some of the biggest acts in the world, previous headliners have included The White Stripes (2004), Foo Fighters (2012) and The Killers (2014).

Tickets for Red Hot Chili Peppers  and Fall Out Boy are on sale from Friday 11th March from www.ticketmaster.ie.

Pre-sale reservations meanwhile are available from Wednesday 9th March. Follow this link for further information.
