Queens Of The Stone Age have ended their current run dates in Dublin, with a visibly elated Josh Homme proclaiming “I cannot think of a better city in the fucking world to end it in”. The band’s show at the city’s 3Arena on Friday night (24th November 2017) came as they wrapped up their 'Villains' European tour.

Josh, who took to the stage along with band mates  Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar), Dean Fertita (guitar / keyboards), Michael Shuman (bass) and Jon Theodore (drums) made the announcement as the band thundered through their rapturously received set at sold out arena.

Performing a marathon two and a half hour set, the California desert kings kicked off with the powerful one-two of ‘…Like Clockwork’ single ‘If I Had A Tail’ followed by early fan favourite ‘Monster In The Parasol’, setting the scene for the night of dynamism to come.

Mixing older material like the primal stoner riffage of ‘Regular John’ with more recent hits like ‘My God Is The Sun’, the Dublin audience made no distinction between the eras, with each track received as ecstatically as the last.

Opting to play the majority of their Mark Ronson-produced latest release meanwhile, the material from ‘Villians’ proved just as popular. The Frankenstein stomp of ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me’ may have proved the heaviest track of the night (save for the closing ‘A Song For The Dead’), but it was lead track ‘The Way You Used To Do’ that prompted Homme to proclaim; “We came to dance, drink and hopefully get everyone laid!”

As the night drew to a close, in keeping with ‘Villains’ optimistic vibe, towering front man Homme revealed; “We’re here because we fit together.” Closing their set, and their tour with the sexual swagger of ‘Misfit Love’, the penultimate ‘Head Like A Haunted House’ and the aforementioned ‘A Song For The Dead’, Homme was emphatic, reiterating; “I’m quite serious when I say we chose this city to end this.”

Queens Of The Stone Age are set to play their biggest ever UK show in June 2018, with a special outdoor event at London’s Finsbury Park. Dubbed ‘Queens OF The Stone Age And Friends’, the event which takes place on 30th June also features special guests Iggy Pop, The Hives and Run The Jewels.
