Indie Rockers Placebo are to embark on a 20th Anniversary World Tour. Celebrating the two decade milestone since the release of their debut self-titled album, the extensive jaunt will see the band take in U.K. and European dates, as well as a show at Dublin's 3Arena, on Saturday 10th December.
Kicking off the first leg of the ’20 Years of Placebo’ tour in Denmark on 13th October, the tour runs through to Wembley Arena in London, where the band will play on 15 December 2016. Further dates for 2017 meanwhile, are expected to be revealed later.
The band has promised a set list spanning their whole back catalogue, with band leader Brian Molko teasing; “Let's just say there will be songs in the set that I've sworn never to play again. I think it's time that we purposefully acknowledged what a lot of Placebo fans really want to hear".
The front man continued; "A twenty year anniversary tour seems like the right time to play our most commercially successful material. This tour is very much for the fans and a chance for us to revisit a lot of our early material".
He added; "if you want to see us play songs like 'Pure Morning’ and 'Nancy Boy’ which we haven't played in almost ten years and may not play again, then you'd better come along to these shows. We'll have some surprises in there too."
Placebo have partnered with Ticketmaster to allow fans a special forty-eight hour pre-sale to secure their tickets for the shows. The fan pre-sale will begin at 9am on Wednesday 16 March, with the general sale tickets (for the Dublin show as well as all other dates) going live at 9am on Friday 18 March at 9am.
