Mötley Crüe brought their ‘All Bad Things Must Come To An End’ tour to Manchester last night (3rd Nov 2015), with a rock and roll spectacular that featured pyro, glamourous backing singers, and an indoor rollercoaster.

Glam metal superstars Mötley Crüe brought their ‘All Bad Things Must Come To An End’ tour to Manchester last night (3rd Nov 2015), with a rock and roll spectacular that featured pyro, glamourous backing singers, and an indoor rollercoaster. Appearing at Manchester Arena as part of what has been billed as their final ever tour, the four-piece pulled out all the stops to ensure that attendees wouldn’t forget them.
Before they took to the stage, however, legendary entertainer Alice Cooper proved that he too had a few tricks – not to mention a full-size boa constrictor – up his sleeve during a hit-filled set. Opening with a slew of some of his earliest material, the former Vincent Furnier ripped through ‘The Black Widow’ and ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’ before raising the roof with a venomous ‘Poison’. Playing the pantomime villain throughout, Cooper was electrocuted and reborn, straight jacketed and beheaded, in a horror-filled extravaganza that proved that the shock rocker is still among the most watchable acts around.
Mötley Crüe however, have never been shrinking violets, and with a career-defining set and lavish stage show they proved that they were more than capable of rivalling that of their special guest. Opening with ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, the band were in celebratory form from the off, with singer Vince Neil commenting: “We’re here to celebrate thirty-four years of rock ‘n’ roll!”.
With fans having chosen the cities that the band would play in on the tour in an online poll, bassist Nikki Sixx was keen to sing the praises of the Manchester crowd. Sixx said: “We’re coming to cities like Manchester that matter, because rock ‘n’ roll is alive right here”.
Meanwhile, back behind the kit after missing a number of American shows due to a hand injury, drummer Tommy Lee added: “Without you there would be no Mötley Crüe, so I want to say thank you”.
And it was the drummer’s solo spot that proved to be the show’s highlight, thanks to his disbelieving rollercoaster mounted drum kit that stretched out into the middle of the arena. Performing his signature spot suspended high above the crowd, Lee revealed that his jaw-dropping stunt had been a lifelong ambition come to life. Lee said: “I’ve been waiting my whole god-damn life to pull this f****** bitch off.”
Following the solo, Lee joined his bandmates on the intimate confines of a second stage located in the middle of the arena. There the band got up close and personal with fans, before signing off with an emotional ‘Home Sweet Home’.
Mötley Crüe’s U.K. tour continues tonight (4th Nov 2015) at Birmingham’s Genting Arena and concludes on Friday (6th Nov 2015) at Wembley Arena in London.
