Michael Schenker’s Temple Of Rock played tribute to Jimmy Bain last night (28th Jan 2016), during their show at Manchester’s Academy 2. The tribute was made by singer Doogie White, who dedicated a song to "celebrate the life and work" of the late Dio and Last In Line bassist.

Michael Schenker’s Temple Of Rock played tribute to late Dio bassist Jimmy Bain last night (28th Jan 2016), during their show at Manchester’s Academy 2.
Dedicating a song to the musician who passed away on 24th Jan, the five-piece honoured his “life and work”.
Bain, who was a member of the original Dio band and who had also played with Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow, died suddenly while aboard Def Leppard’s ‘Hysteria On The High Seas’ cruise. The veteran bassist had been performing on the cruise with his latest band, Last In Line.
Playing in Manchester as part of their current U.K. tour, it was while launching into a poignant ‘Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead’ that Temple Of Rock singer Doogie White honoured Bain, a fellow Scot.
Announcing the dedication, White said: “This is the first song we ever wrote together, played tonight to celebrate the life and the work of Jimmy Bain”.
In a further tribute, White also made reference to Bain’s former bandleader Ronnie James Dio, who died in 2010. Raising the malocchio – the famous ‘devil’s horns’ hand gesture popularised in heavy metal by the late singer – White paid tribute to the two musicians, who had shared the stage together in both Dio and Rainbow.
Going on to delight the Manchester crowd with a hit-heavy, high octane set, Temple Of Rock thrilled, mixing classic tracks with material from their current album ‘Spirit On A Mission’.
Based around Michael Schenker’s mesmerising guitar playing that has drawn plaudits from celebrity fans such as Slash and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, the band covered all facets of his incredible career; from UFO to The Scorpions and MSG.
The U.K. leg of the tour continues tonight at Nottingham’s Rock City, and concludes on Saturday at London’s Islington Academy. The band then head to mainland Europe for a string of dates starting in Germany on the 2nd Feb 2016.
