Progressive metal outfit Mastodon have confirmed the support act for their upcoming brace of Irish dates. The quartet who hail from Atlanta, Georgia will be joined by The Raven Age for the shows at Belfast's Limelight on 14th August, and Dublin's Academy on 15th August.
Currently opening up for Iron Maiden on their 'The Book OF Souls' U.S.A. run, The Raven Age are a melodic metal band from London. The band was established in 2009 when founding members and guitarists, Dan Wright and George Harris - the son of Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris - began developing their vision of a band that combines contemporary heavy music with powerful melodic vocals to create a dramatic and unique sound.
Mastodon are due to enter the studio in the run up to the dates, to record the follow-up to 2014's lauded 'Once More 'Round The Sun'. Their first album since 2011’s The Hunter, it placed peaked at number 6 on The Billboard Top 200 charts. The album was the bands second consecutive album to reach the top 10 .
The pair of Irish shows come after a headlining slot at this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival. Taking place at Catton Park, Derbyshire from 11th - 14th August 2016, Mastodon will close the Saturday night at the popular metal festival, ahead of the likes of Gojira and Paradise Lost.
The band will join fellow headliners Twisted Sister at the event, who will play their last ever British date at Bloodstock on Friday 12th August, and Slayer who will bring the festival to a close on Sunday 14th August.
