Marillion have announced that their biennial Marillion Weekend is set to return in 2017. Taking place in the U.K. and The Netherlands, the band are also exploring the possibility of a Polish event. The news come as the band issue an update on new album 'F.E.A.R.'.

Regularly taking place since 2001, the Marillion Weekend offers fans three days of music and more, in a convention type format. The events have proven incredibly popular with the band's loyal fan base.

The 2017 Marillion Weekends will begin in Holland, from Thursday 23rd to Monday 27th March 2017, while the U.K. leg will take place between Friday 28th April and Sunday 20th April 2017. Further details are available on the official Marillion Weekend website.

Owing to the fact that the band are planning an extensive North American tour later this year, with plans for further dates in 2017, there will not a Montreal Weekend for 2017. The band are however, considering a third event, to take place in Lodz, Poland on the weekend of  7th -9th April 2017. Those interested in attending have been asked to take part in a quick 'yes or no' survey to register their interest, which can be found here.

Speaking exclusively to eonmusic at the Classic Rock Awards in London last November, singer Steve Hogarth said of the 2015 Marillion Weekends; "I think they were the best ones yet, and that’s incredible because I didn’t think we could beat the last one in terms of the atmosphere, but we did”.

He continued; "I think we pulled it up another gear because the pressure was on to try and do something extraordinary”.

Talking about the event during the 2015 U.K. Weekend (reviewed here), keyboardist Mark Kelly said; "we want to keep it special, and to come up with something new, exciting, different. There’s a lot of stuff to get through, and we always have to keep it interesting.

Going on to praise the fans for their input, he added; "we do love doing them. They are really special.  I think it’s partly because of the fans and what they put into it. It is completely immersive in the Marillion experience. People come from all over the world; we had people from fifty-two countries, and it sold out in twenty-four hours".

Meanwhile, the band have issued an update on plans for 2016. With a South American tour imminent, the five-piece plan to put the finishing touches to new album 'F*** Everyone And Run' on their return. Due for release on 9th September 2016, the disc can be pre-ordered here until 17th June.
