Marillion have revealed details of their upcoming studio album. Tentatively titled 'F.E.A.R' - an apparent acronym that stands for 'F*** Everyone And Run' - the group's eighteenth will be released on September 9th 2016.
In a teaser campaign that went out on Thursday morning on social media and to subscribers on the band's mailing list, the Aylesbury based five-piece released the above image, hinting at the album's final title. The posting simply added;
"Our new album will be released on September 9th 2016. Final date for pre-orders is 17th June. Thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered so far. We are very excited about this album and can't wait to share it with you".
Speaking exclusively to eonmusic via gigsandfestivals at Ramblin' Man Fair in July 2015, bassist Pete Trewavas said of the writing process for what the band have simply been referring to as 'album 18'; "what I can tell you is that we’ve got too much music! We’ve got some fantastic ideas, and we’ve got some great lyrical themes and it’s going to be mega! It’s going to be huge and it’s going to be a lovely sounding album".
Going on to talk about the band's plans for 2016, he continued; "We’ve got quite a lot of work done - we just need to sit down and whittle it down and arrange it, which is going to be the fun bit. Next year we’re going to be busy; we’re going to have an extensive tour throughout Europe and America".
Marillion are due to play as special guests to Rick Wakeman, at the inaugural Stone Free Festival, which takes place at London's O2 Arena from 18 - 19 June 2016. Also set to appear over the course of the weekend are legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper, turn of the millennium chart botherers The Darkness and former Genesis luminary Steve Hackett.
The new marillion album is available to pre-order until 17th June, via pledgemusic.
