Guitar supremo Joe Satriani has added an Irish date to his 'Shockwave' 2016 tour. The virtuoso player will appear at Dublin's Vicar Street on 20th June. Tickets priced €47 (inc booking fee) go on sale Monday 14th March, through www.ticketmaster.ie and usual outlets nationwide.
The 'Shockwave' tour sees Satriani celebrating '30 Years of Mind Bending Guitar Daredevilry', showcasing tracks from his incredible career; from his 1986 debut 'Not Of This Earth', via the ground breaking 1987 release 'Surfing With The Alien', and right up to 2016's critically acclaimed 'Shockwave Supernova'.
In what is sure to be a fantastic night for fans of guitar music, Satriani's set is likely to feature the likes of fan favourites 'Summer Song' and 'Big Bad Moon', along with the fantastical 'Flying In A Blue Dream'.
Speaking exclusively to eonmusic last year via gigsandfestivals.com at the Classic Rock Awards in London where the guitarist received the 'Maestro' award, Satriani said that the reaction to latest release 'Shockwave Supernova' had been fantastic.
Joe said; "It’s been great. It’s a crazy record to lay on the fans, but they really embraced it, and we’ve been playing a little bit more than half of it on tour". He added; "I think it’s really coming alive on stage".
Going on to talk about his live set, the Chickenfoot member said; "there’s the fan favourites like ‘Ice 9’ along with ‘Satch Boogie’ and ‘Always With Me, Always With You’ [that we have to do] but we started doing ‘Not Of This Earth’ and a few other songs that we hadn’t done in decades".
A regular visitor to Ireland, Joe's Dublin show will be his first since his appearance at Vicar Street in 2010.
