Joe Bonamassa is to play a free show at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club on 27th June, as a thank you to fans. The invite-only performance will see the guitar supremo preview his 'Blues Explosion' tour, ahead of dates all over the U.K. and Ireland.
Bonamassa’s love of the British Blues is at the heart of his musical inspiration, with the 'Blues Explosion' tour paying homage to to some of the guitarist's heroes. The intimate concert in front of 300 people will preview material that he will perform at seven special concerts in the U.K. and Ireland this July, where Joe will be honouring the British blues rock guitarists that inspired him; Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.
The tour is being billed as'Joe Bonamassa in Concert: A Salute To The British Blues', with concerts set to take place in Lancashire, Glasgow, Bristol, Greenwich and Houghton. The dates include two concerts performed at heritage castles (Hoghton and Newark), and a special show at the London’s Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. The bluesman will also play Dublin's Vicar Street on 29th and 30th June 2016. A full list of dates can be viewed below.
Joe's Cavern Club appearance will see him inducted into the Cavern Club’s historic 'Wall of Fame', where he will be commemorated with a special inscribed brick in the wall. Previous artists to be inducted on the Wall of Fame include The Beatles, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, John Lee Hooker, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, and many more musical icons.
Speaking about the Cavern show, an upbeat Bonamassa says; “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. I’m so excited to be performing the British Blues Explosion concerts for very first time at the Cavern Club, the same venue where The Beatles first played. It’s the perfect venue for me to showcase the music of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. I hope my fans will get a kick out of it as much as I do.”
