With 2020 and 2021's Hellfest cancelled due to the global pandemic, organisers have pulled together a bill that is simply jaw dropping in its scale and scope. With fans starved of live music for the best part of a year and a half, Hellfest is pulling out all the stops to make Clisson the destination for music in Europe next summer.
As well as the headliners, the bill features a whopping 350 bands, including a returning Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Danish heroes Volbeat, Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society, originators Deep Purple, nu metal heroes Korn, symphonic metallers Nightwish, and countless others.
Reunited pumpkins Helloween, who've just released the album of the year meanwhile, will be looking forward to returning, with singer Michael Kiske recently telling us; "Yeah, we can’t wait, and it’s going to be great. There will be some time passing by until we tour, so everybody will know the album. For a band in our situation, to do it like that is not such a bad thing, I think".
Further down, Aussie rockers Airbourne, Big Four members Megadeth - who spoke to eonmusic about the sad passing of Pantera's Vinnie Paul at Hellfest 2019 - Venice Beach skate punks Suicidal Tendencies, father of shock Alice Cooper, all prop up the bill.
In a statement, organisers say; "we can officially announce it: in 2022 the Hellfest will double the stakes by offering, in addition to its "2020 edition" twice postponed, a second weekend entirely devoted to extreme music. Over the months, this completely crazy idea of adding a second edition in the wake of the first, has become a very concrete reality technically and artistically. From June 17 to 19, then from June 23 to 26, Hellfest will therefore take up the challenge of programming, over 7 days, more than 350 groups! Something never done in France, or even in Europe!
"Good news never comes alone, it is also in 2022 that the festival will finally be able to welcome Metallica! Considered one of the greatest groups in the world, the Californian quartet is one of the groups that the public dreamed of acclaiming one day in Clisson. But this exceptional event must not overshadow the richness and diversity of the rest of the poster… the posters…!"
With the first weekend already sold out, four-day passes for the second weekend will go on sale here on Wednesday July 7 at 1:00 p.m. Note that holders of a pass for the 2020 edition, which is therefore twice postponed, will have privileged access, for 24 hours, to a presale which will be launched on Tuesday, July 6 at 1:00 p.m.
This option aims to thank all those who supported us by preferring to keep their 2020 pass for almost two years. For many reasons, both technical and economic (impossible to replace a 3-day pass by a 4-day pass), an exchange from one weekend to the other is not possible.
In addition, this advantage, strictly limited to the purchase of a maximum of 2 passes per person, is only intended for those who officially bought their seat, online, in October 2019. Tickets having been resold via the Ticketswap site, or whose reimbursement has been claimed (in 2020 or 2021) will not be affected by this “special” presale.
The price of the 4-day pass is € 289, that of the 1-day pass will be € 105 (excluding rental fees).
The Metal Corner and the campsite will remain open on June 20, 21 and 22, in between the two weekends. Organisers are already working on the various activities that will be offered to festival-goers who will stay 10 days in Clisson. Moreover, these activities may extend beyond the festival grounds, into the city, but also throughout the region.
Team Hellfest continues; "Remember that the Atlantic Coast and its beaches are not far away. We also wish to take advantage of this press release to once again thank the public for their unwavering support during this long and trying period that we have just lived. We would also like to associate these thanks with the media, partners and professionals who have kept the “secret”, so that we can announce this great comeback in our own way, in order to share all this precious information with the fans of our festival and of this live music, which we missed so much during these endless weeks of confinement. In the days, weeks and months to come, more information will be communicated through our official networks. In the meantime, we wish you an excellent weekend to the sounds of the festivities at https://fromhome.hellfest.fr/ where, in addition to various archives, 22 unpublished concerts are offered to you, as well as original content as a clap. eye to Hellfest regulars. Take the opportunity to start warming up at home for the metallic marathon that awaits us in 2022 ... 7 days, 350 groups! Hell is Back! We look forward to seeing you there. Stay Strong. Stay Safe!"
