The first round of acts for this year’s Electric Picnic festival have been announced. Among the big names heading up the 2016 event are revitalised American rock icons LCD Soundsystem, New Wave pioneers New Order, and moody Californian songstress Lana Del Rey.

Taking place in Stradbally, Ireland, the boutique festival returns for its thirteenth year to the Co. Laois site. Featuring three days of music, the arts and more, the 2016 happening takes place between 2 - 4 September.

With twenty-seven acts announced in total so far, attendees can also look forward to sets by dance giants The Chemical Brothers, harmonious sibling trio Haim, and respected indie rockers Wild Beasts during the weekend.

Following the surprise announcement of a headline slot at this year’s Cochella Valley festival in California, reunited rockers LCD Soundsystem will be taking to the Stradbally stage for their first Irish concert in six years.

Lana Del Rey meanwhile, will be making her Irish festival debut at the event, in what is sure to be one of the most emotive sets of the weekend.

Elsewhere, fresh from the success of last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Music Complete’ album, New Order will be hoping to set the world in motion, with and electric, electronic main stage set.

First taking place in 2004, Electric Picnic has grown to become the largest event of its kind in Ireland. Regularly selling out well in advance, patrons come to enjoy myriad attractions; from Body and Soul to the retro 90s’ Power Party, in the arena’s multi–platform staging.

Tickets available now from ticketmaster.ie.
