Speaking to eonmusic in 2021, Duran Duran guitarist Dom Brown said that he had been disappointed that the band's original 2020 BST date - which was cancelled due to the global pandemic- didn't take place. Said Dom; "We had Hyde Park and the Isle of Wight pulled for 2020 in the summer, and now Hyde Park is 2022. We had loads and loads of other live things, and obviously, it’s been a terrible time in terms of performance. It’s the longest I’ve not performed since I was 16".
The Dublin show meanwhile, follows on from their show-stopping 2017 performance at Electric Picnic in Co. Laois, which saw the band close the festival with an explosion of colours and sounds.
