Current Black Star Riders and former Alice Cooper guitarist Damn Johnson has announced details of his debut 'electric' solo project. Due for release on 27th May 2016, the 'Echo' EP features 'big riffs', 'driving rhythms' the 'instant melodies'.

Recorded throughout 2015, the five track release sees Johnson taking on lead vocals, as well as handling the more usual guitar duties and other instruments. Joining the Alabama native for the project is drummer Jarred Pope and bassist Tony Nagy.

Produced by celebrated studio wizard Nick Raskulinecz, with whom Johnson also worked on Black Star Riders' 2015 release 'The Killer Instinct', 'Echo' was recorded at at Rock Falcon Studio in Nashville.

Says the guitarist; “we worked together on Black Star Riders ‘Killer Instinct’ album. A few weeks later Nick asked me if I had any solo songs I wanted to record and we were off and running. His contribution to ‘Echo’ is immense. I’m very proud to share this music with the world.”

Speaking exclusively to eonmusic whilst on tour with Black Star Riders last year, Johnson was upbeat about his 2016 solo activity. Said Damon; " I can’t wait to get my solo stuff out. I'm so proud of it. I’ve made a couple of acoustic solo albums but  never put out a proper electric one".

Going on to speak about his solo band, he continued; "I’ve got a great rhythm section with my friends Jarred Pope – he worked with me in my country band Whisky Falls, and a great bass player Tony Nagy who I met through Chuck Garric from the Alice Cooper band. Chuck recommended Tony, and Tony’s one of the best musicians I’ve ever met.

He concluded; "It's great to have those guys in the studio and on the stage with me".
