This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of arguably Motörhead's most famous album Ace of Spades and, to celebrate, the band and its record label BMG are releasing a special vinyl reissue on 30 October.

Motörhead is a massively influential heavy metal band from England that shot to fame in the mid-1980s. Their music, style and general swagger made them an instant hit. The band is often credited as one of the driving forces behind the resurgence of popularity of heavy metal in the United Kingdom in the late 80s and early 90s.

Successful albums, global fame and countless amounts of merchandise and spin-off products spawned as a result. One recent example is the award-winning premium dark rum brand Motörhead that claimed the Gold Award at the Rum & Cachaça Masters 2020.

The gaming industry has had its go at jumping on the Motörhead bandwagon a long time ago. Lemmy appeared in Double Fine's 2009 metal-minded action game Brutal Legend as one of the main characters, Kill Master. Also, the title Victor Vran, created by Bulgarian gaming studio Haemimont Games had its weapons, powers, and skills themed around the band.

Even the iGaming industry has seen the benefits of aligning with the Motörhead brand. The official slot game, bearing the band name, made by the gaming developer NetEnt, has been gaining quite a popularity at several casinos that operate in the UK, especially 888 since it immerses players in a real-like Motӧrhead concert experience.

To understand the impact Motörhead had on the British music scene. You just need to look at the numbers. Ace of Spades became the band's highest-charting studio album in the United Kingdom after it got to number 4 on the general album charts. The title song of the album also peaked at number 15 on the British pop chart, all at a time when heavy metal was not very popular in England.

Ace of Spades was released originally in 1980, and even though it is arguably their most famous album, you'd probably have some difficulty finding someone who disagrees with the statement. It makes sense the re-release is being given so much love by Motörhead and BMG, the record label. The re-release forms part of the Motörhead '79 campaign, which began with the 40th-anniversary celebrations of the band's earlier albums Overkill and Bomber.

The new Super Deluxe Edition of the record will feature a bunch of never before seen or heard music and video, such as two previously unreleased concerts, a half-speed master of Ace of Spades made directly from the original tapes, nine instrumental demos and alternative versions of the song. The reissues are expected to arrive on 30 October 2020 and are available for pre-order on the band's website.

Ace of Spades Super Deluxe box set includes:

  • Ace of Spades 40 Years Wings tee
  • Deluxe triple album
  • The Ace Of Spades album
  • Footage from previously unreleased concerts
  • Previously unpublished interviews
  • Never before seen photos and memorabilia
  • Original song lyrics
