In 2022, over 80% of music sales were attributed to streaming platforms, with about 47% of the total population using music streaming platforms weekly. Many people are curious to know how music in the UK has become this popular.

Some filmmakers go as far as even producing special soundtracks for their movies. Apart from the effect of this music on the cinematic delivery of these movies, they also help to create awareness for new music talents and help music travel to other cultures.

Shows like “Stranger Things”, which became popular on Netflix, featured a piece of music by Kate Bush (an English musician). In a matter of months, the song's placement in this popular Netflix show gave Bush her first UK No 1 in 44 years and first ever US Top 10 hit, 37 years after that music was released. This is an example of how the use of music in movies contributes to UK music and its popularity across borders. Through movies, people can discover British musicians and love their music.
