Blockchain is not yet a term that inspires instant and universal understanding, which has so far inhibited its growth into more diverse industries. Yet if blockchain does achieve mass acceptance, then its influence on the music business could be significant and far-reaching. Many artists have expressed their discontent at the way money generated by streaming sales has been distributed, while sound engineers and producers are often neglected. In theory, blockchain has the capacity to ensure greater equity and a fairer distribution of wealth.
