Violinists dedicate the majority of their lives practicing in order to excel in the music industry, and very few actually make it. Orchestras, these days, are very particular about what they are looking for, and they don’t just choose anyone. We must appreciate and support these artists on every level to make the career journey a little easier for them.

Back in the day, violinists were side lined or labelled as classical musicians, but a number have recently grabbed the spotlight with their intense, soulful music and made their abstract mark in the world. The music produced by their skill and grit is classical, practically sensational and makes the listener’s intense emotions resurface.

So, if you enjoy passionate and fiery music, we have made the list of the top 5 intense violinists for you.

Itzhak Perlman
It comes as no surprise that Itzhak Perlman is at the top of our list. With his brilliant virtuosic technique, he has made his mark in history.

Born in 1947, Pearlman is an Israeli-American who performed in front of a live audience at the tender age of 10. He is a Julliard graduate who has been a part of several orchestras and has played solo violin passages for award-winning movies.

He has won 15 Grammy awards and a US medal for freedom. He has also been a teacher who gave regular violin classes and cofounded the Perlman music program with his wife. He is known in the industry as the pioneer of his profession.

The music his graceful fingers produce is soulful and powerful, making you feel the depth and intensity in it.

Lindsey Sterling
Lindsey Sterling is a 30-year-old artist who is not only a violinist but also a songwriter and dancer.

Born in 1986, Sterling is undoubtedly the modern face of the industry. She launched her own Youtube channel in 2007, where she debuts her intensely choreographed violin performances. The music she plays resides in multiple genres, from classic to pop to rock and electronic dance music.

Her music video called Crystallize was one of the most-watched videos of 2012. She has been featured in many music magazines. In 2015, she was featured in Forbes under 30 in music: The class of 2015. No matter what genre she’s playing, Sterling brings her signature twist to it.

Asher Laub
Asher began his training at the age of 2. Gifted with immense talent, it was no surprise that he had performed with the great Buffalo Philharmonic when he was 13.

He already had a glowing resume, and his command of trans-genre improvisation set him apart from most of his peers. He has become a soloist in constant demand, debuting his music at famous venues around the country.

He has performed at Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Hall, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and has been featured on PBS multiple times. Laub has also made headlines at multiple international news stations.

Asher is known for the profound intensity that he brings in his performances that makes audiences feel enchanted.
He is known for producing and performing intense violin music, be it high energy progressive house or beautifully sentimental, ballad-style music.

Nicola Benedetti
Benedetti is not only known for her music but also her advocacy towards music education.

She holds a strong belief that everyone has a right to musical education as it is an important way for people to express themselves. In that belief, she, along with some friends, founded the Benedetti foundation that sets up workshops for young people and teachers.

Nicola, herself, started training at the age of 5 with Brenda Smith. Not only is she in-demand within some major orchestras, but she is also being called the most sought-after artist of her generation. Her music is eloquent, emotional, and deep.

Sarah Chang
Born in 1980, Sarah Chang is a Korean-American classical violinist who has been called a child prodigy by several magazines.

She first performed as a soloist at New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of 9. She graduated from Julliard in 1999 and then played significant roles as a soloist with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras.

She has been performing internationally for over 30+ years. She is a talented individual that is still going strong and fast in her beloved profession and making her parents proud. Her exceptional style and powerful, potent music is loved and felt by millions around the world.

I am a man of 77 and in remission from colon cancer at the moment. In 1964 I was playing 2nd violin at school in the Athlone Boys High School Orchestra and I was also in the National Youth Orchestra under the conductor Perina Gambo. When I was studying from 1964 onwards I stopped after having played for 6 years to try and concentrate on my career. My passion for music and especially the violin to this day has never stopped. I currently own approx. 1 dozen violins including a fake Stradivarius. I have almost given up hope of ever playing again and perhaps this scenario now needs to change after 61 years of not playing. I have forgotten a lot but not everything. Perhaps under encouragement and guidance I need to start again from almost scratch. Please comment and contact me. Thank you. Yours sincerely Ronnie Sack. Although much older now I am still the same person.
