Top 5 Casino-Themed Songs.

Casinos and card games have been used as metaphors in songs for years. From the time when Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley promoted Vegas' grandeur in the 1950s, with their popular songs ‘Luck Be a Lady’, ‘Viva Las Vegas’ and ‘a Little Less Conversation’ to Aerosmith’s ‘Deuces Are Wild’ in the 1990’s to the most recent ‘Snake Eyes’ by Mumford & Sons in 2015, casino-themed songs are all over. Making a top 5 casino-themed songs list is not an easy task, having in mind the classics like those by Sinatra and Presley, but we will list some of the best casino songs released in the last 15 years.
Poker Face, 2008 – Lady Gaga
A decade ago, when Texas Hold’em was in full bloom, Lady Gaga made a parallel between the popular card game and love. With sexual innuendo, with the risk involved and with a great beat, Lady Gaga perfectly compares the game and love and draws the conclusion on how similar they are and how they can be played out.

Waking Up in Vegas, 2009 - Katy Perry
When you wake up in Vegas, it is expected that you don’t remember a thing about the previous night because you’re hung-over and that in the blur you think you’ve lost your hotel keys and that you’re broke. All that glitter and lights and drinks may even get you married with a stranger. And if you start complaining, remember that that’s what you get from waking up in Vegas, nothing more, nothing less and that’s what Katy Perry’s message is.

Russian Roulette, 2009 – Rihanna
Rihanna’s ‘Russian Roulette’ song beautifully pictures the morbid intent of a dysfunctional, abusive relationship. The notorious Russian roulette, a roulette game played with real guns where real people were really being murdered, fits perfectly the love theme in such a physically and emotionally devastating relationship. The ballad is so powerful and the metaphor fits the troubled union amazingly.

Wagon Wheel, 2013 – Darius Rucker
This is the original song by Old Crow Medicine Show, but Darius Rucker, the former frontman of the Hootie and the Blowfish band made his own version of it, co-written by Ketch Secor and Bob Dylan. It tells the story of a man who’s been gambling in New England, lost all of his money on poker, went in debts and had to leave town and returns to his hometown Johnson City, Tennessee.

Snake Eyes, 2015 – Mumford & Sons
The Snake Eyes is one of the worst possible Craps rolls. The folk-rock band describes how a man’s life was destroyed by bad luck, compared to the worst Craps move, and has lost everything thanks to that. Again, the game is a metaphor for love, with the snake eyes suggesting that a girl made him lose everything. It portrays a man’s love towards a young and cruel woman, but it says that the man was aware of the danger of love, just like every Craps player is aware of the unfortunate roll and he still went for it. If you want to try your luck and play a hand or two we strongly suggest choosing a reputable operator like these listed on casinobet.com.
