The Magnettes new single 'Shakes (Falling in Love)' follows the ‘out with your best friends on a Saturday night’ dance floor smash 'Kimnkanye' and is an unapologetic roaring anthem about passionate love.  As the band explains: ”It’s about gushing love and heaving lungs, kisses in the rain and all that fun stuff we don’t really have time for anymore." We caught up with the duo to get the lowdown on what's happening in their world.

Where do we find you at the moment – where are you and what are you up to?
We are currently on our summer tour doing a bunch of festivals in Sweden and  Europe! We also just recorded a video for our new single “Shakes” in Luleå (Norrbotten, Sweden) and it looks SICK!

You have known each other since childhood – can you second guess each other/ read each other’s minds?
Ha, pretty much! When you spend this much time together you basically know what the other person is thinking or how that person will react in different situations, we can see through and put up with each other’s bullshit.

Does this closeness lend itself to being in sync when performing?
Definitely, sometimes we do synchronised moves and stuff without noticing until we’re watching the clips. It’s like our impulses have aligned through the years. Even our periods are pretty much synched.

Do you have the same musical influences or do you bring different ideas to the table when writing songs?
Sanna is all about country, Tomas is old and has angst indie credibility issues, and Rebecka feels the Top 40 pressure. We do agree on Whitney Houston and Bikini Kill.

What else (or who else) in life influences you?
When things go wrong, travelling and crisp drum sounds

Explain the term “Twenty first century f**k pop from Pajala”
Futuristic, grunty and sweaty disco pop from the deep north of Sweden. Jay Frank at DigSin coined the term and we thought it was spot on.

Are all your songs about rebellion, ultimately?
Oh Boy, we sort of felt they were more about fucking, drinking and ping pong, but either way, YES, revolution is the answer. Or Maybe revolution is the question. And the answer is fuck yes.

Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with on a track ?
Kathleen Hanna or Tina Weymouth. We’ve been saying this for YEARS! Will someone hand them our email?

Tell us about the new single ‘Shakes (Falling in Love’) – and what’s all this about wanting to make out with Stevie Nicks? !
It’s a gritty and gitty disco track with opera vocals about falling hardcore in love and acting a fool. How can you not wanna make out with Stevie Nicks? She’s the coolest witch on the planet. But honestly we had her in mind a lot while recording this song. Her kinda raspy chill sensual tone in her vocals was the vibe we at least TRIED going for!

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We’re touring Europe a lot and releasing NEW MUSIC so hold on to your hats.

When will we see a new album?
Soon, OK? STOP PRESSURING US! [*laughing*]
