Good music has the power to heal you, connect you with people separated from you by a thousand miles, lead a revolution and topple treacherous power structures. One only needs to look into the pages of history to understand how music has affected our lives and helped fight through oppressive systems of power.

Music has healing powers. No wonder therapists and health experts advise their patients and clients to listen to different genres of music to fight their mental health symptoms and quicken their recovery rates from a major operation. The right combination of rhythm, melody, lyrics and emotion transcends borders and unites people. It takes people to the deepest corners of their imagination and fills them with a renewed hope for life.

Music is hope, and hope makes our lives better! And that said, today, we shall attempt to enlist a few iconic songs of all time. These are songs that have stood the test of time, moved happy souls to tears and pacified those who are always anxious. From online video games to slot games on online casino malaysia, these songs have found their purpose and utility in more than just one area. Having said that, let us now start with the discussion of the best and the most iconic songs of all time and see how many we have heard from the list.

Shop Around by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles
History informs us that there was a bit of confusion regarding who must record this song. Robinson suggested that Barrett Strong is the best for the song. However, Gordy had something else on his mind. He wanted Smokey Robinson to record the song himself. However, after the song first aired on the radio, Gordy found it to be too slow. That was when he called Robinson and asked him to re-cut it with Robinson’s vocals more prominent. Fortunately, this was the version that made the cut.

The song was written by Berry Gordy and Robinson and appears on The Ultimate Collection (Motown).

Miss You by The Rolling Stones
The second song that we added to this listicle is Miss You by The Rolling Stones. We do not need to say a lot about The Rolling Stones because a person has to live under a rock to not know about this musical genius. It is said that The Stones were rehearsing for one of their gigs when Jagger and Billy Preston came up with the song. Miss You went on to become the band’s first number one hit in five years and is dominated by blues and disco grooves.

The song was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and appears on Some Girls.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Written by Springsteen about the 9/11 event, the aim of the track was to help his listeners deal with the tragedy. The song narrates the story of a firefighter entering the Twin Towers and is dominated by a gospel-styled chorus. In fact, every other song from this album was written and composed with the aim of helping his fans get through the trauma of the incident and cope with loss. If there was one instance in history where music helped people live through tough times, it was this. The song appears as the title track of the album The Rising.

I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor
I Will Survive appears on I Will Survive: The Anthology by Gloria Gaynor and was written at a time when her career was falling apart. She was already replaced by Donna Summer as the reigning disco diva. Plus, back then, she had even been through a great personal loss, the death of her mother and had undergone an invasive spinal surgery. Therefore, needless to say, the song was inspired by the events of her life. The song naturally had an extra edge to itself and went on to become a smash hit. The track was originally meant to be on the B side of the cassette, but the instant success of the song, especially at the discos, turned it into an icon. Dino Fekaris and Freddie Perren had written and produced this song.

Wrapping Up
These were some of the best songs of all time. Of course, there are several more songs that we could not include in the list, but these are some of the songs that have been a smash at one point. Some of these might not have been heard by many, and that is why it was essential to talk about them in great depths and details. Music has been a saviour in most of our lives, and there cannot be enough words to show how it has affected our lives. The best we can do is tune into these songs and set the tone for our day.
