Copenhell 2024; Machine Head, Tool & More Rock Denmark's Post-Apocalyptic Metal Spectacle.23/6/2024 Copenhagen's annual Copenhell festival has taken place in the Danish capital, with Bruce Dickinson, Limp Bizkit and Machine Head among the acts to wow crowds at the sell-out event. Taking place from 19th - 22nd June 2024, Copenhell 2024 marked the thirteenth outing for Denmark's biggest metal fest.
To reference the old advertising campaign from Belfast in the 1990s, it had "the buzz" at Wednesday's (12th June 2024) edition of this year's Belsonic at the huge Ormeau Park in the city. The city hasn't seen this much raw energy in years as Nova Twins, Tom Morello and Limp Bizkit all played to a packed crowd.
The headlines may have screamed about the sadly inevitable stormy weather, but there was much more to Download 2024 than an admittedly colossal mud fest. From Mike Patton taunting with Spandau Ballet to a "fucked up" Joshua Homme, and Pantera's first UK gig in 23 years, this year's Download Festival was a triumph against the odds.
Cavalera blasted away the years on Thursday night (14th June 2024), with a set of proto-thrash and speed metal that focused solely on the brothers' roots. Featuring material from the earliest days of Sepultura, brothers Max and Iggor proved an unstoppable force at Dublin's Academy.
In a recent somewhat misleading headline it was claimed that "Billy Corgan doesn't want to play fan favourites at Smashing Pumpkins gigs", however on Monday night (10th June 2024) in Dublin's 3Arena, that proved to the contrary, as the US behemoths delivered a set crammed with their best know songs. With Weezer filling out the special guests slot, this was a dream bill for '90s alt-rock and grunge fans.
