Charlie Talks Silver Linings, U2 Fandom & Anthrax History

As co-leader of Anthrax Charlie Benante has been with the Big Four icons since their inception in 1981. Finding himself marooned like the rest of us during the pandemic, the multi-instrumentalist most famous for his drumming skills assembled a cast of musical friends to record ‘Silver Linings’, a collaborative covers set which features an eclectic mix of tracks from the likes of U2, Massive Attack, Fleetwood Mac and more. In this interview first published on eonmusic in April 2021, we sat down with Charlie to chat the album, his love of U2, and his work on Anthrax reissues.
