The tour begins in Paris on the 9th of April, and finishes in the UK. They’re playing London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town, KK’s Steel Mill and Manchester Academy. Released in 2006, their Inhuman Rampage album introduced fans to an evolution in their sound, which rocketed the band’s worldwide presence.
The new album, Dragonforce, is being released through Napalm Records on 19th of March, 2027 and features Alissa White-Gluz on vocals. Alessio Garavello is the co-lead vocalist and is taking over from Marc Hudson, who is stepping back from his music duties.
Dragonforce have also released a new song. “Hunger of the Beast" which features heavier elements, including screams and growls, showing Dragonforce are taking a new direction with their music and are fully embracing the skills of their two new singers.
Dragonforce have always had a fantasy edge, with songs like “Heart of a Dragon” and “Where Dragons Rule”. Epics like this fit well with current culture, especially with how much fantasy as a whole is being explored right now.
More modern examples include Game of Thrones. House of the Dragon follows the Targaryens and their connection to dragons as they struggle to claim the throne. The show was so popular that it resulted in an official podcast being released and a slot game. The online casino game House of the Dragon features dragons, as well as numerous nods to the original series, showing how prominent mythical worlds are.
Examples like this run deep throughout power metal history, and show how the fantasy theme is just as prominent now as it was 20 years ago. Dragonforce took the concept of power metal and sped it up, while adding layered guitars that gave them a distinctive sound.
Their album, Valley of the Damned, showed their developing sound, but Inhuman Rampage was the album that became a platinum-selling global hit. It also spent 23 weeks on the US Billboard chart. The Inhuman Rampage tour is set to be huge for the band and is a unique opportunity for fans to hear the album in full.
Accompanying Dragonforce are Visions of Atlantis. The symphonic power metal band has albums like Wanderers, which surpassed all of the benchmarks set by their previous record. This album has a maritime theme but focuses on exploration and self-discovery. It's also inspired by fantasy author J.R.R. Tolkien. Since then, the band has released an orchestral version of Armada. This came out in 2006 and reimagines their 2024 album. It features flute contributions by Sandro Friedrich and violin arrangements by Fabio Polo.
